Our Vision

We share the vision of a world in which sensory impaired children and young people enjoy the same rights, opportunities, responsibilities, fulfilment and quality of life as their able-bodied peers.

Independent Living Skills
Life skills are a critical element of the education of children and young people who have visual or hearing impairments.  Life skills include the orientation and mobility for the sight impaired and independent living as well as social skills for both disabilities.

We cannot begin to improve the lives of sensory impaired young people unless their needs are identified and a comprehensive package of training is put in place.

Anecdotal and research evidence highlights both the lack of training available for these young learners and the scarcity of qualified specialist staff available to work with them.

Our program aims to give practical solutions and raise awareness of the importance of life skills education for sight and the hearing impaired people throughout their lives but especially during their school years.

Our impact and accomplishments include:

We established daily living skills rooms in Bucharest and Cluj schools for the sight impaired;

Established the early intervention unit within our Resource Centre;

Provided donations of specific equipment and software to schools and individuals around the country;

Have trained and certified 8 teachers and instructors in space awareness, orientation and mobility in Bucharest and Cluj schools;

Organized and delivered independent living skills training with sight impaired children and young people in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara.
